Sterbai Corys are an old-time favourite among fish keepers, loved for their striking spots and orange pectoral fins. A fully grown group makes a big visual impact, and people always go "wow" when they see them.

Important Sterbai fact:
They typically grow to about 6-7cm in length, making them one of the chunkier, more robust cory species. Like with all fish, the larger the tank, the better. For a group of six or more, I recommend a minimum of 120 litres, with good filtration. A longer tank is always better than a tall one, as they use the bottom area the most.

Important Cory fact:
These fish must be kept in groups of the same species, as they naturally live in large shoals in the wild. I recommend a minimum of six of one kind, as smaller mixed groups don't give them the security they need. I have seen people keep just three Cory's, and they often fade away one by one from stress. Proper same-species groups make them feel safe, confident, and active, allowing them to truly thrive.

Diet:
A variety of good-quality fish food will work perfectly, as long as they sink and actually reach your corys at the bottom.

  • Sinking pellets (the pellet I personally recommend is DENNERLE Cookies - special menu)
  • Frozen foods
  • Baby brine shrimp
  • Occasional vegetable-based foods
  • Grindal worms. Feeding these wiggly worms will make your corys feel like they're foraging freely in nature - it's their favourite treat and brings out their happiest, most natural behaviour.  You can even get your own Grindal worm culture right here in my store.

Water Conditions
• 24–28°C
• pH 6.0–7.5
• Soft–medium hardness
