Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana)
Lucky Bamboo is a versatile, low-maintenance plant commonly kept in aquariums. Although not a true aquatic plant, it grows extremely well with its roots submerged and stems above water, making it a popular choice for natural filtration and aesthetic setups. Its tall, elegant stalks help absorb nitrates and improve overall water quality.
Ease of Care: Easy
Perfect for beginners and low-tech aquariums.
Light Level: Low to moderate
Avoid strong, direct light as it may cause leaf burn.
CO₂ Requirements: None
Lucky bamboo thrives without added CO₂.
Water Parameters
• Temperature: 20–30°C
• pH: 6.0–7.5
• GH/KH: Soft to medium
• Can adapt to most freshwater conditions as long as the leaves remain above water.
Flow/Filtration:
• Low to moderate flow.
Helpful Information
• Ensure only the roots and lower stem are underwater. Fully submerging the leaves can cause rot.
• Can grow in soil, pebbles, or loose substrate.
• Very hardy and long-lived with minimal care.
