Elodea - Egeria densa • Also known as Anacharis, Waterweed & Brazilian Waterweed

Please note: Elodea should never be released into rivers, dams, ponds or other natural waterways. If you have unwanted plant material, it can be safely disposed of in your garden compost or compost container, where it makes a great addition to the compost.

One of those plants I really can’t recommend highly enough!

Elodea is a fast-growing, easy and wonderfully uncomplicated plant. We mainly grow and sell it as a floating plant, where it happily grows at the surface and provides lovely natural cover and protection for fish and fry.

If it sends out roots, you can also tuck those roots into the substrate and let the plant grow rooted. It will happily continue growing this way and may produce additional stems as it establishes.

What I love most about Elodea is that it isn’t messy. It grows quickly, takes up excess nutrients from the water and can help compete with algae, while adding lots of fresh green to your aquarium.

It’s also a great little refuge for small fish and fry, and most fish seem to really enjoy having it around.

It’s a wonderfully forgiving plant and doesn’t require CO₂ to grow well. If you're looking for an easy, fast-growing plant that adds greenery, cover and helps make use of excess nutrients, Elodea is a winner.
